Yesterday my powerbook crashed and I cannot went in to the OS. I don't know why it is so sudden, I was pissed off and desperate...then I decided to re-install the OS. To my surprise, I cannot find my hard disk. I checked in the disk utility, and there it is...an error message showing that there is an error with the S.M.A.R.T system, I don't even know what "S.M.A.R.T" is. I can't do anything with my hard-disk, I can't even erase or format it.
Today I went to apple center down town. After they inspected, they said the hard disk need to be replaced. Well, after 4 years and 1 month since I purchased this laptop, finally the hard-disk crashed...
Anyway since I don't have any budget to buy a new one, I have to spent almost 150.000KRW/150USD to replace my 40Gb hard disk. However since they do not produce the 40Gb anymore, I have to change it to 80Gb...well there goes my plan to buy a new 20inch widescreen monitor

Just bought a 22" TV Monitor made by LG at HiMart last week.. I think you'll get more value than the 20" one..

In my internship place there are also crashing MACs... unfortunately I don't use them :(
SMART itu hardware stuff yg bilang kalo hard disk elu ud mo fail.
to put it simply, hdd elu nge-detect, kalo biasanya gua bisa dari diem sampe muter butuh 5ms, skr butuh 7ms, that means s'thing is wrong with me.
kalo ud fail, itu hardware failure, jadi no point format ato apapun. fail means fail. too bad :(
To Riza: witss keren bro...22 inch wide screen yah?gw jg rencananya mau beli, tapi laptop gw gk support diatas 20 inch, jadi kalo beli diatas itu percuma karena resoluisnya jelek. makanya pengennya yang 20 inch. Tapi kayaknya harus di tunda, mungkin dialihkan untuk ditabung nanti buat upgrade komputer gw...
To didik: well i think it is about time it crash..but 4 years is already considered great...btw it is Mac not MAC, cause MAC is the term they normally use for cosmetic...:D

ini gw juga beli gara2 ga punya tv.. trus dapet komputer gratisan dari hanaro (Internet provider) tapi tanpa monitor..
btw graphic card mac loe ga support diatas 20"? sayang juga yah.. berarti sudah saatnya ganti ke iBook atau PowerBook yang baru.. hahahahah..
To Riza: ooo...iya emang udah saatnya ganti nih..skrg udah gk ada powebook n ibook bro, adanya macbook sm macbook pro...laptop gw udah 4 tahun,jadi emang udah saatnya di museumkan, tapi gw masih sayang aja..soalnya masih bagus dan kalo dipake browsing2 sama chatting masih lancar2 aja..buat edit video jg masih ok kok..cm ada beberapa masalah hardware, seperti gk ada USB2, adanya usb1...its actually bot an issue at all..
yup.. itu dia.. sama yang terjadi dengan vaio gw.. umurnya udah 3.5 tahun.. ga ada masalah siy, tapi kalau mau dicari2 terus kurangnya, pasti ada aja dan malah banyak.. hahaha..
memang laki2 kalo udah masalah gadget ga ada puasnya yak..? hehehe..
