This is my first time to watch a baseball game, and I dun really know the rules actually. But I played before in a video games, so basically I understand a bit about the game. And it was actually an exciting games to watch. No wonder a lot of people liked it.
The game yesterday was between Samsung Lions (Daegu) vs. SK (Seoul). We don't really know the players but it was just so exciting to cheers for our Daegu team. There were also some entertainment during the game.
Like any other game it's all started with the national anthem. This is also my first time to listen to Korean national anthem.
And then there is the cheerleaders
And also the mascot
And the best part is the spectators waves
All in all, Samsung lions beat SK with score 7-6....
This is the most unique marathon or even the most unique sport race I have ever joined in my life. The 2008 Masai Marathon was taken place at Daejon, around 3hours drive from Daegu. My Korean teacher initiate the idea of joining this race, so most of all my Korean class friend went there. We arrive there just before the race start, around 10am. What was so unique about this race, one might ask. First of all the race is in a mountain road, which means, it was a small pathways with uphill and downhill and also thousands of people. So its not the normal asphalt road.
Second of all all the participants are advised not to wear any footwear, so you have to be bare-feet.
The participants was not only marathon fans or runners or athletes, but it was for everyone. Whether you are man, woman, children or oldman; from Korea, USA, Japan, Indonesia, India etc; whether you even disable people join this marathon
As usual, in any normal marathon, they have some sort of pit stop or a check points where you can have waters and some food. In this marathon we also have checkpoints, but not only water and food, there are also live musics. But not only that, there also a view performances like dances and traditional korean folk song, and all these are during the marathon.
Beside that, you also have a mud road along the way. I'm not really sure what's the reason they made this road. But it was fun.
At the finishing line, there are also cheerleaders shouting "Hwaiting...hwaiting...". a Korean way to encourage people.
After the race we got our medal, in the form of a foot made of wood, which is very unique. And then we also receive a Souvenir including 2 bottles of Soju (Korean traditional Alcohol drink). And we can enjoy a Soju cocktail after the race while watching some performances.
Yesterday me and all the ceramics dept went for our annual winter MT (Membership training)2008. This winter we went to Muju Resort for ski and snow boarding. The night before we went there, I was actually feeling unwell. I think it was because of the Road-rally last Sunday. Anyway I thought that I won't miss this change. We gathered in campus at 5am in the morning. It took about 2.5 hours from our campus to Muju resort by bus. We arrived there around 830am, and it was so exciting to see the town full of snow. When we arrived there, first we went to the rental to rent our ski and snowboard equipment. All of the student take snowboard, I was actually want to choose ski because I played ski before, however since all student choose snowboard, I have no choice but to choose snowboard even though I have no confidence with snowboard. Little town full of snow in Muju-resort
After we rent of the equipment, we directly went to the course. Since this is the first time for me to play snowboard, I have to learn everything even how to use all the gear. I was wondering why do we need to use protection in our buttocks but not on my elbow, but I just use it for the sake of protection. The first thing that we need to learn is how to balance ourself on the board, and after that we need to learn how to stop the board from sliding by using our feet to tilt the board. It takes me quite sometimes to learn these 2, and when you fall, your buttocks hit first that's why we have to use protection there. Once I master this, it was quite fast for me to learn the next lesson, the sliding, toe slide, back slide, and turning. However I have to fell down so many times until I really enjoy snowboarding.I found out that it was easier for me to play snowboard than ski and I think snowboard is more fun.
I felt really tired after 8 hours of snowboarding. We end our session at around 5pm and we went to the resort to rest and have our dinner. We had samgyopsal for dinner and as usual the dinner was full of "soju" and "mekju". Because I was too tired I went to bed early and since the next day we still have hiking. Today we went for hiking at Deogyu mountain-딕규산. The mountain was full with snow, and it was extremely cold on top. However it was a very beautiful scenery. I was actually about not to join them hiking because I was too tired, but I can't resist when I first saw the scenery. It took us about an hour to reach the top and we took some pictures and enjoy the scenery. I can't even feel my pain when I was there, it was too beautiful to missed....
I Just got an Email on the Next Standard Chartered marathon for this year. Remind me again in last year event where Hempel won 9th place in the Company overall race. I wish i can join this year.
Kinda sad to sell off my 1st ever Road Bike. I got this bike nearly one year back, and has been using it for two races so far. The furthest was the Malaysia Malaka Off Duathlon of 60Km Cycling and also the latest OSIM Triathlon of 20km Cycling. Even though the bike size was slightly too big, but i didn't find any difficulties or any discomfort using it. The bike use Norco Aluminum Forza frame, which is quite light, Shimano 105 set Rear and Front Derailleur, Shimano sora shifters, Champagnalo Wheelset, Aerobar and Carbon Fork. Quite a midclass Road bike. So far satisfied in using it. Well i dunno whether i wanna get a new one, cos basically in Jakarta can't really cycle around. If i can, maybe i can get the red one above....:D
Finally, just before I went out from Singapore, I complete my Osim 2005 Triathlon. Well this Triathlon was not the toughest, but its quite tough cos I didn't have enough training before. However I manage to complete the race. Firstly, I wanna join on Saturday and Sunday race, Saturday for the Relay sprint-20km Cycling only, and the second day for the Full Olympic Triathlon- 1.5 swim, 40 cycle, 10 run. However because I have to fly to Jakarta in Saturday night, therefore I cannot join the second day race. And I change the first day to Full Sprint Triathlon-750 swim, 20km cycle and 5 run. The sea (East Coast beach) at that time was terrible because of the wave. Anyway, is Triathlon race event exist in Jakarta???
This is my first race this year. A Duathlon which is a Run-Bike-Run Competition. I actually never plan to join any of Duathlon events before. But my colleague Shawn asks me to go and try Duathlon. I agreed, but because I am a first timer so I want to try the short distance first, which is 3km run-20km bike-3km run. The distance was quite short but long enough for a beginner like me. However when I reached Lumut-Malaysia, which is more than 9 hours drive from Singapore, I reconsidered to change to a long distance, which is a 10km run-60km bike-8km run. I do not want to waste my time and journey to come all the way to Lumut and only do a short distance, but my concern is whether I can do that long distance which I never tried before. The furthest distance that I ever try was a Triathlon 750m swim-30km bike-5km run and Half Marathon 21km. After contemplated with myself and persuasion from my colleague Shawn, I finally decided to change to a long distance. So without any preparation and training I just go ahead and challenge myself with the distance and timing. Throughout my race I was suffered from leg cram and was so tired. I even ran out of water in 3L my camelbag after my second 20Km round bike. It was very torturing moment. But it was really unforgettable when I saw the finishing line. I managed to complete it after all. So far this is my longest race distance I have ever experienced. However, I still feel that Triathlon is more fun compare to Duathlon or Biathlon or even Marathon. So anybody interested in the next Singapore OSIM Triathlon?
Have you ever wondered how you look underwater. Well not for me now, cos i have already knew how i look under water. Its terrible...hahhahaha...the picture that u see here is blur, not because the water is dirty, its because i use a disposable underwater camera to shot this picture. The water infact very clear, its greenish blue in color, very beautiful. If you could see clearly in the picture, there are a group of Clown fishes (Nemo-"Finding Nemo"character) on my left handside in the picture. Its a great experience to see the underwater world. Definitely wanna do it again.
Sunday 24th April 2005, Orchid Country Club-Singapore. 15 warriors from Hempel (singapore), gathered ready to combat at the Tag Paint ball ultimate battle Field. The mission is to shot down to target in the opponents land and save the ammo box in the middle of the field to a save place without being shot by the opponents. The gears are protection mask, bullet proof mask and a semi-automatic paint ball guns. The gun has a power to shoot up to 10 metre range, just nice to shoot like a snipper. It was an awesome games, and i tell you this game is really brings addiction. Well i could really consider this to be my hobby, but the only problem is just one, i couldn't afford it...Try it out, and you'll feel the fun. (more info: www.paintball.com.sg)
It was a dream for so long to see how the underwaterworld look like. And after so long, finally it becomes a reallity. Friday night, 15th of April, me Eric the B34r, Bayu and asem along with the Bluereef team went to Pulau Dayang to start our first ever diving experience. After studying the theory and practicing in the pool, the trip for Open Water dive course finally began in the Malaysia's own remoted dayang Island. It was an unforgettable moment for us, because it was our first ever dive experience. I finally understand how its like to be Nemo (the clown fish in the movie), especially when you are lost underwater...hahahhahahha....well, i get a shot also with Nemo underwater... Great experience and adventure...uhuiiiiiiiiiiii
